Franklin’s Restaurant
At the heart of the house is Franklin’s Restaurant, a small, candlelit restaurant with six spaciously-set tables. Food is cooked to your liking and you can take your time, relax, chat between yourselves or with other guests, and savour every moment in an unhurried fashion.
If you like ‘fine dining without the pretentiousness’, you’ll be at home in Franklin’s. You’ll see food you won’t see in other restaurants, yet there’s always something available for every taste.
We want to make each and every guest’s evening special, a bit quirky, enjoyable and memorable. Nine times out of ten (if we have timed the tables right), Lloyd will come out of the kitchen to describe his desserts. There’s no written dessert menu and this is part of the Cluny Bank experience you should really try not to miss.
Our current menu is displayed on our website. We are more than happy to cater for vegetarians or special dietary requirements with advance notice.
Every meal is lovingly prepared…
… by the passionate chef/owner Lloyd, who sources, prepares and cooks each and every dish. He only uses the best local ingredients, meat from Macbeths Butchers, cheese from Connage Dairy, berries from Wester Hardmuir (when in season), Lobster is landed in Lossiemouth and most of our fish comes in at Scrabster.
These are the same suppliers we have used for years and together with the same person doing the cooking, you can be sure that each and every time you visit the food will be just as good or better than the last time.
The hallmark of the genuinely delicious dining offered here is – flavour. From the amuse-bouche tasse of soup, through succulent cuts of meat and traditional puds, the embrace of real food taste is warming and comforting.
Chef has an abundance of natural talent supported by a hard work ethos, and it shines through: not in overly fashionable, delicate plating – but in generosity of flavour and quality of ingredients that have met his critical approval.
You simply know, you can instinctively sense that it’s all good stuff, done properly.”
– Gary Mclean-Quin – Scottish Food Awards – October 2017
